The Master (2012): Full Review
Director: Paul Thomas Anderson
Genre: Drama
Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, Laura Dern, and more.
"Free winds and no tyranny for you Anderson, sailor of the seas."
It is not a secret Paul Thomas Anderson has achieved that Kubrick status where everyone is excited for his next release, always expecting something out of the world of ordinary. Some may even argue that he is Stanley's contemporary clone in cinema. I for one disagree, but the case still remains. The Master felt like another winner for Anderson from the beginning. A film with a stellar cast that tackles the roots of scientology. Once released, the film has imaginably stirred controversy while gaining praise from both critics and regular moviegoers. Some were even determined to rank it as the best picture of the year without even caring for other future releases. Read more.

85th Academy Awards Nominations Reaction & Final Predictions
Just when I thought the Oscars could rise up to the occasion of having a great year filled with good movies to choose from... Unfortunately they did it again. Only this time, ten times worse. The Academy Awards deserves waves of hatred after what they just pulled. Nominations that don't even make sense from a logical perspective. Almost entirely disappointed... They should really consider changing their name from Oscars to Snubfest. Preposterous. Let's take a more in-detail look at all the categories. Read more.
Zero Dark Thirty (2012): Full Review
Director: Kathryn Bigelow
Genre: Drama/Thriller
Cast: Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Mark Strong, Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, James Gandolfini, and more.
"It's clever, it's sensational, it's professional, but not obscene. A ferocious experience."
Fiction or not, Bigelow's supposed docu-thriller about the work that led to Bin Laden's final seconds is a cinematic gem. An extraordinary film that, by my surprise, it doesn't try to teach, impose, nor propose anything to the audience. It doesn't try to glorify any act in the film, including the main stage, the killing of the once "most wanted man on the planet". Bringing your own thoughts and beliefs about what really happened behind the curtains will not benefit your experience at all. You'll have to just trust your film-loving instincts on this one. Lincoln (2012): Full Review
Director: Steven Spielberg
Genre: Drama/Biography
Cast: Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and more.
"The historian in Spielberg became a confused story-teller."
A film named "Lincoln" spreads specific expectations. The audience needs to be in touch with the man's life, needs to understand him and to get behind his motivations and wishes. When the only thing you get is a film dedicated to one single important event from this man's life, then at least the audience would want a better understanding of why this person pursued this dream of his. When you don't even get a clear picture of that, then my friend, the film finds himself in a blind corner. Read more.
